Study Spanish in Nerja, Southern Spain

plusabroad offers a two-week cultural experience with activities included. The study Spanish language in Nerja program is designed for people with free time, ready to have a new experience in the south of Spain, in Andalusia, and to learn Spanish in an enjoyable and encouraging way. This program includes a two-week package of activities with a full day trip on Saturday and 15 hours of classes per week from Monday to Friday. There are three different learning levels.

The Language School

Nerja is located about 50 kms (30 miles) east of Málaga in the south of Spain on the Costa del Sol. Its name comes from the Arabic “Naricha” meaning abundant spring and it enjoys a privileged climate and fantastic landscape alternating between spectacular cliffs and golden beaches, making it a great place to study Spanish abroad. The language school is located in the center of the village, in a traditional Andalusian house, with a large tropical garden. It is just a few minutes walk from the beautiful nearby beaches and in the surrounding area you can also find all types of shops and restaurants. Our facilities consist of 12 indoor and outdoor classrooms (the garden is a wonderful place to have a class) which are all fully equipped as well as a bookshop and a cafeteria.

Study Spanish Language Program

The program we offer aims to satisfy the needs of the students both in terms of general aspects of the language, as well as subjects such as Spanish civilisation and culture.

To enhance the teaching of the language, we combine our professional experience with the most up-to-date methods and techniques (tapes, videos, overhead projector materials, new technologies and the Internet). We pay particular attention to the use of newspapers, magazine, books, photos and other “real” materials in class.

Our teachers are Spanish native graduates in teaching, linguistics and in the different subjects we offer.  They make up a well coordinated and enthusiastic team, ready to make your learning experience as effective as possible.

The monthly program of activities is varied and full. Students also have free time to enjoy the many attractions that Nerja and its surroundings have to offer. Two excursions are included to nearby Andalusian sites such as Granada, Sevilla, Cordoba or others, according to availability, interest and time of year.

• Visit Nerja's prehistoric caves and the picturesque villages in the surrounding areas: Frigiliana, Almuñecar and Cómpeta

• Trips to Granada, Seville, Malaga, Cordoba, Morocco or other cities of historic and cultural interest

• Spanish cinema, concerts and other interesting shows

• Seminars on literature, bullfighting and other customs

• Theatre and writing Workshops

• Sevillanas (Flamenco), Spanish cookery and wine tasting classes
